Between March 2 and May 4, the thirteen high school directors of the Northside Independent School District (San Antonio) will be able to participate with their choirs in a series of nine clinics, workshops, and masterclasses provided by YouthCUE. The sessions are designed to help the NISD high school choirs regain some of the musical territory lost during the two school years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Selected (by their directors) 8th graders from the high schools’ feeder middle schools will also participate in the training events.
Emphasis will be given to sight-singing and raising the students’ general musical/choral literacy. It is an opportunity for directors and their singers to get back to the basics of excellent choral and ensemble singing, something which is regularly needed, pandemic losses or not.
