This arrangement treats the famous melody in a novel fashion with mild dissonances and unanticipated harmonic progressions. The solid yet subdued piano accompaniment aides the novelty of the work, but for those who wish for a most bombastic accompaniment, a chamber orchestra version is also available. Released for the 2015/2016 Youth Cue Festivals.

This enjoyable hymn arrangement from the YouthCUE anthem series, is full of variety: beginning with a simple unison statement of two verses, utilizing an original rhythm (m20) that Beethoven penned for this theme in his Symphony #9 (but rarely seen in the hymn), embellishing the melody within the 4-part 3rd verse, and transitioning to a final verse with added harmonic interest and an ending in a grand classical style.

All these work to make this a highly recommended piece for general worship or for celebratory use. This arrangement is highly recommended and accessible to most experienced youth and adult choirs and should be enjoyable to perform.
