I have yet to find a student choir that does not enjoy "Risen Indeed." It is easy to pull apart and teach in sections, and it is a quick learn. If the director is properly prepared to teach this anthem, the students will learn it at lightning speed, allowing them to put this quickly into their repertoire and enjoy singing it time and again. The anthem builds towards the end and has a very powerful ending. You'll have some fun and good experiences with this selection!
The Bottom Line
Pros
Rhythmic and enjoyable, students are quick to learn and retain
Cons
Keep tempo in check - it can begin to rush as if running downhill
