Beginning with an a cappella section, the strong choral part-writing of this anthem remains a steady feature to the end. The piano introduces it, the a cappella section sets the ambiance, then the piano gently re-enters and provides quiet movement underneath the rest of the piece. This anthem would not be for a beginning or inexperienced choir, but would nicely reinforce choral techniques for more mature choirs, both youth and adult.
The Bottom Line
Pros
This anthem is a fresh setting of the text we all know and love.
