Whether in times of peril, such as hurricanes or floods, or in days of great personal loss, almost every church congregation goes through periods of spiritual crisis. Although few singers may be of an age to remember this old gospel song, its tender message may be exactly what is needed in the life of the Church from time to time.

The text is an old one (1901) but the words are understandable by most, with a little help. Its text writer (Methodist Minister, Frank Graeff) was no stranger to loss, grief, physical pain, & spiritual doubt, as demonstrated by the deeply meaningful text.
